Book Launch for Miriam Halahmy’s novel, Illeagal

Last night I went to a book launch in Camden for Miriam Halahmy’s novel, Illegal. It’s the second in her three-part series based on Hayling Island and tells the story of fifteen-year-old Lindy who is forced into a world of drug-dealing and self-harm. It follows Miriam’s brilliant, debut YA novel, Hidden, which I have just finished reading and loved. I walked away with a signed copy of Illegal from the launch and I can’t wait until I get the chance to read it! The premise is exciting and I think that Meadowside did a fantastic job on the beautiful cover, it looks a hell of a lot more inviting than an essay on Medieval texts that I am currently forcing myself to do. I think I’ll use it as a treat when I finish.

Anyway, the launch was lovely with yummy food and wine on offer. Miriam gave a great speech and  read out an exciting extract of Illegal. Most of the team from Meadowside Publishers were there too so it was nice to catch-up having not seen them since before Christmas. My editor was recently engaged as well and I got the chance to see her gorgeous sparkler.

If you want to know more about Miriam and her amazing books, (why wouldn’t you?) her website is here.
