I Handed in Roses!
I finished Roses! Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
So ah-hem, yes. I handed Roses in to my editor a few hours ago, which was just an awesome feeling. I should have celebrated with drink and chocolate and flowers or something, but instead I went downstairs and ate omelet with beans, because that’s the crazy kind of lifestyle that I lead. It had bacon and everything.
In my last post I mentioned that I was wrestling with all sorts of mythical beings (Roses is a fantasy book – it is a loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast) and it all ended a little messily last Friday with a fantasy-breakdown and my sister repeating endlessly on the phone that the unicorn just wasn’t necessary to the plot. But one weekend and a unicornless manuscript later, everything has improved. I ended up with a crazy deadline for this book because I had only just finished a ghost written piece before Christmas and then my arm busted up and I couldn’t write so I’m pretty surprised that I managed it. I had hoped to hand it in before now, but I’ve got to remind myself most of the time that I’m human and, you know, we can be rubbish sometimes.
So these photos are of the rose that my boyfriend gave me for Valentine’s. It was really lovely to write *cough* a lot of Roses with this on my desk. As you may have already gathered, they feature quite strongly in the plot…
Anyway, I should probably go celebrate properly now and do something crazy like make a cup of tea.
Man, I’m gonna miss that unicorn.
